New Friends Show

7:00pm - Doors
7:30pm - Gak-Ja
8:15pm - Guthrie
9:00pm - My Giddy Aunt
Guthrie saw My Giddy Aunt play in a pub in Brunswick in 2025. The band's energy was downright mesmerising, and after feeling so uplifted from their set, Guthrie set a new life goal - to play a show together. After hearing that their good friend Billy Exton was ready to debut their new project 'Gak-Ja', it felt like the perfect opportunity to put a lineup together in celebration of new friends, new creative inspiration and the new year.
About the artists:
**Guthrie:**
Guthrie is the last name and music project of Naarm artist, T. Inspired by the songwriting and catharsis of artists like Angie McMahon & Jeff Buckley, T will essentially play a series of breakup songs (but about capitalism).
**Gak-Ja:**
This is Billy Exton’s first outing with Gak-Ja, a live solo (for now) music project based on their love of folk songwriting, avant garde jazz, moody electronic soundscapes and neuroqueer existential drama.
**My Giddy Aunt:**
Australian indie rock trio My Giddy Aunt could be most aptly described as a rainbow tornado, combining the thoughtful and witty lyricism of singer-songwriters such as Courtney Barnett with a dash of Springsteen-esque drama and genre-defying arrangements in the vein of Gang of Youths and The Cardigans. The Aunts’ stories investigate themes of loneliness, self-expression and queer love, underpinned by memorable songwriting with plenty of heart, passion and often more than a touch of whimsy. Inclusion and self-expression are at the core of the group’s ethos and critters of all stripes will feel welcome at their exhilarating live shows.
