Lennon Wells

Lennon Wells (TAS) _"Blink (and you'll miss it)" _album release tour rolls through Shotkickers, Thornbury on January 17th with very special guests Winter York and Stonewilde
Lennon Wells have been hard at work for the last two and a half years and the fruits of their labor are finally ready to harvest. ‘Blink (and you’ll miss it) Out November 26th is the debut LP from the Hobart outfit, featuring singles ‘Baddie’, ‘No Kings’ and their latest ‘Take A Year’. The album will be released on limited edition Deluxe 12” Vinyl, pressed on ultra
clear, transparent wax. Available for pre-order now via Bandcamp.
Recorded between The Chapel in Hobart, Tasmania and Bay Corner Retreat, Bruny Island, the album has been produced and mixed by Alistair Campbell and A. Swayze.
The album is a conquest of the moment; how to live in it, how to bathe in it, how to become it. Whether it be the split second you disregard what the world thinks of you or the reflection that life can be taken at any moment. ‘Blink (and you’ll miss it)’ is a representation of Lennon Wells’ moment.
Of the recording process Drummer Sam Forsyth says:_ “The process was a musician's dream really, a few mics and all of us in the room really going for it. Putting in everything we have for each take, hoping to catch a piece of magic, and sit in that shimmering space where imagination and reality intersect”._
_“The writing process was different to anything I’ve done before. We went down to my shack on Bruny Island with all our gear & recording equipment, spent the first morning setting up and then proceeded to write 14 hours a day for the next 3 days together. We would start with a riff idea that Matt had written and then develop a song from there. I’d then let the band nut out the song and I’d go smoke a joint and write something out the back. Once we_
_both had something solid, I’d come in and we’d rehearse the song once, then record it and then move on to the next idea. The second song we wrote on Bruny was ‘Honey, You’ll Always Be Home’ and we used that recording on the record!” _Says front man Ben Wells
The release of the album will coincide with a beer collaboration with Mountain Culture.
Lennon Wells and Mountain Culture have come together to brew the ‘Blink (and you’ll miss it) Hazy Pale Ale. The beer is set to be launched at the Album Listening Party (November 21st) where Lennon Wells will shout a keg – entry to the party is via pre-sale purchase of the record. Purchasing the record pre-sale will give you the chance to win 1 of
10 cartons of the LW x MC beer!
‘Take A Year’ is the third single off the upcoming album_ ‘Blink (and you’ll miss it)’._ A slick slice of rock & roll that alludes to influence from The Arctic Monkeys & QOTSA. Written about the need to escape when life pushes back a little hard. The film clip features Lennon
Wells’ latest sold-out hometown show, with artistic license from Hotwax creative. It gives an insight to the energy output the LW put into every live show, that earned them the NLMA nomination for Best Live Act TAS.
Front man Ben Wells says of the song: “I’ve always felt a constant need to stay busy, to make every second worthwhile in some respect. I find it quite hard to sit down to be honest. ‘Take A Year’ is me singing that song to someone in the same head space. Telling them that there really isn’t any expectation to live your life so busy, take a minute to reflect,
then get back after it next year”.
