**EDAN** is a critically acclaimed dee-jay, emcee, producer and song-writer with a global following. Known for his unlikely take on hip-hop culture, where traditional rap songs are often skewed by 60’s rock samples, tape echoes, and foreign language choruses (not to mention the off-beat humor and surrealist imagery in his lyrics). Since the release of his debut rapp single in ‘99, Edan has amassed a loyal cult following ~ thanks to beloved releases such as 2005’s ‘Beauty & The Beat’ (NME named it one of the top 500 albums of all time), and collaborative projects on the Stones Throw label (2018’s ‘Humble Pi’ with rapper Homeboy Sandman). In addition, he’s produced for, and worked with the likes of MF DOOM, Pharoahe Monch, Kool Keith, Your Old Droog, Dan Auerbach (of The Black Keys), and The Avalanches. His live shows (where he often dj’s and raps simultaneously) have been highly regarded the world over. As a dee-jay, Edan manages to incorporate a wide range of tastes and influences into a single narrative that celebrates warmth, grit, and imagination. Expect to hear anything from late 60's soul/funk, latin & boogaloo, to South American garage, giving way to Turkish (or Thai) psychedelia, African & island music, on up to late 70's rapp & disco, punk & new wave, and back again ~ all stitched together & presented with an unmistakable hip-hop / b-boy sensibility and an uncompromising (yet loving) attitude...
